2011-2012 Optimist Brain Bowl

The Optimist Brain Bowl is an academic competition open to Colorado Wyoming middle school students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Students form teams and demonstrate their knowledge of a variety of subjects in a format modeled after the GE College Bowl television program that ran from 1959-1970.

All Colorado/Wyoming public, private and home-schooled 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to form teams and participate.

Registration per school is limited to 3 teams per grade level, nine teams total. Should the tournaments fill before the December 1, 2011 deadline teams will be accepted in the order in which paid registrations are received.

Ready to buzz in!

Three regional tournaments are held to accommodate all the teams that wish to compete. Teams must compete in the region in which they are assigned. Check the Optimist Brain Bowl School District Information to find which tournament your team will be assigned to compete.

North Region Tournament - Saturday, January 21, 2012

Central Region Tournament - Saturday, February 4, 2012

South Region Tournament - Saturday, February 25, 2012

Championship Tournament - Saturday March 3, 2012

Optimist Brain Bowl Championship in 2012!

The top six teams in each grade level from each regional tournament (54 teams total) will be invited to compete in the 2012 Optimist Brain Bowl Championship Tournament on March 3, 2012 at Douglas County High School in Castle Rock! Put this date on your calendar as you plan your Brain Bowl program!

The 2012 Competition Rules are now available. Coaches should print a copy of the rules and become familiar with the qualifications for teams moving on to the Championship Tournament. The new rules have information on how teams are selected if there are ties.
